Domain Management

Domain Management is where you register your websites with AffRank, verify script installation, and crawl your site to discover pages.

Adding a domain

  1. Go to Dashboard → Domain & Script
  2. Click Add Domain
  3. Enter your domain without the protocol — myblog.com, not https://myblog.com
  4. Click Save

Your domain appears in the list with status Unverified until you complete the verification step.

Verifying your domain

Verification confirms that your AffRank script is correctly installed and serving on your domain. AffRank uses a server-log method — when your script loads on a visitor’s browser, it logs a signal to AffRank’s servers. Verification checks for that signal.

To verify:

  1. Install the AffRank script in your site’s <head> (see Installing the Script)
  2. Open your website in a browser so the script loads
  3. Return to the AffRank dashboard within 10 minutes
  4. Click Verify next to your domain
  5. You’ll see a green ✓ when confirmed

Why this method?

This approach works with every script loading method — static HTML, tag managers, async loaders, single-page apps. There’s nothing to upload and no DNS records to create. If the script ran on your site in the last 10 minutes, it verifies.

Crawling your site

Once your domain is verified, you can run a domain crawl to discover all the pages on your site. AffRank follows your sitemap and internal links to build a list of your content pages.

To start a crawl:

  1. Go to Domain Management
  2. Click Crawl next to your verified domain
  3. AffRank begins crawling — you’ll see progress in real time
  4. When complete, your pages appear in the pages list with word count and detected keywords

The crawl results show which pages already have AffRank keywords in their content and which don’t — useful for spotting content gaps.

Removing a domain

Go to Domain Management, click the menu next to the domain, and select Remove. This removes the domain from your account but does not touch your website — the script will simply stop injecting links once removed.

Troubleshooting verification

“Verify” button doesn’t turn green after clicking

  • Make sure you visited your website (don’t just have it open in a tab — actually navigate to a page)
  • Check that the script tag is in the <head>, not the <body> or footer
  • Try verifying immediately after a fresh page load

Domain showing as unverified after being verified before

  • This can happen if the script was removed from your site
  • Re-add the script, visit the site, and re-verify

“Domain limit reached” error

  • You’ve hit the domain limit for your plan
  • Upgrade your plan or remove an unused domain first
